My computer, which I fear will never be back to its old self entirely, is at least functional again. It recognizes my external drive, it connects to the internet, it word processes, and it can play DVDs. Everything else will come in its own time. I had most of my data backed up, but not all of it (damn this school for throwing us out the day classes are over!), so some of my stuff is apparently lost forever-- the old HD won't boot up anywhere, no matter how I try. I even slaved it to the new drive, but nothing. So, unless I send it to some clean room somewhere where they take it apart and go over it sector by sector, I'm fucked. Ah well. The only thing I really regret losing is my conference work for Fred last semester.

Also, I (gods willing) will be dropping my Development class. The teacher misrepresented the course to me in the interview, and now he;s trying to make me do a conference project of his choosing. Add to that the lock-step liberalism of just about everyone in the class, and I'm calling bullshit. I mean, the man actually forced me to talk about how I "felt" about the readings. Does anybody care how I felt?! I can't imagine they did. Being compelled to say something even when I have nothing constructive to add burns my biscuits. People at SLC do that crap enough on their own initiative.
