On the job in Kenmore, a grand dame carrying two heavily laden shopping bags passed by, remarking to me, "I'm damn glad I'm almost home; this is too much for a 74-year-old broad. Have a good one, guy." I bemusedly replied "you too!" while thinking that I should offer to help, but I couldn't because I was in the middle of a leveling run, and anyway, contrary to expressed opinion, she looked like she was doing quite well. I only hope I age so gracefully as she.

Then, to bring me crashing into the other end of the age spectrum, on my way home there was a high-school cross-country team training on the trail, some with their shirts off. Despite the fact that even looking at them too long is probably good for a statutory rape conviction these days, I indulged what glances I could without biking into a ditch.

Also, I got a new keyboard and mouse today at work, which made me feel special. They're both wireless, which usually makes me nervous about keystrokes being captured, but our Project Engineer has final approval over all office technology purchases, and she always seems to know what she's doing, so I choose not to worry.

Oh, and we have a new plotter, too. It's of a size and complexity to make Gutenberg green with envy.

Autumn has arrived, which means winter is just around the corner, and that brings a happy glow to my cold, icy soul.

Life is good.
