This is the second book in a row I haven't been able to finish entirely for Fred's class. Much as I like history, I may have to accept the fact that I usually have trouble wading through history books, even those that are comparatively well-written. The single great exception that proves this rule is Terry Jones' Crusades which is one of the funniest books I've ever read.
